I own Spring Creek Designs, LLC, based in southeastern Minnesota. I design and fabricate soft furnishings for the home (primarily window treatments, pillows and bedding). My mother taught me to sew at an early age, so I credit my passion for creating and sewing to her. I started sewing pillows, table runners and Christmas tree skirts for my sister’s business in 1997 word spread and my business started to grow. My work space has changed quite a bit over the years, from a corner in the kitchen, to a guest bedroom, a home office, to my current studio (which my fabulous hubby built for me):

All of my machines are lined up against the back wall with a large storage closet on the left and shelving on the right. The pegboard above is where I store some of my finished valances before delivery.

My talented father built the furniture for me. My original table was 40” x 72”, I out grew that and added on to the table to make it 60” x 96”, I finally gave in and made it 60” x 144”. The table on the right can be wheeled over and with the sides extended the table will be 174” long. Above the table is my Dofix steam iron, I think this is my most valued piece of equipment.

I have plenty of storage under the table and on the walls for fabric, supplies and finished treatments. My space is not that large (14’ x 22”), but it is sufficient. I recently finished three large cornices (96”, 116” and 174” wide) and I had plenty of room to fabricate all three of them. I hope you have enjoyed touring my studio. I will be posting some of my work in my future blogs. Thanks for reading!
